| The Track
Having proved highly successful after it's Australian release over a year ago, the Rogue's attempt to recreate this success by releasing Voodoo Child to the U.K market. The single comes after Natalie Bassingthwaighte has thrown her weight behind the band leaving Neighbours behind so she can devote more time to the band who have reached a good level of success in Australia. Prior to the band's arrival in the U.K there was extensive promotional work which saw the band being backed by several BBC DJ's which secured them playtime on the popular music station BBC Radio 1. The lyrics themselves are fairly simple, breaking them down into sections shows verses with words differing in places to keep the song going. The lyrics are sung into a bouncy cheerful way and are possibly shaped by Natalie's bubbly personality. The vocals also comes across as sultry and cheeky in place suiting the song well. The backing helps lodge the track into listener’s heads. Voodoo Child is mostly synthesised with a solid drum base throughout the track. This is combined with various foreground included guitar and hit hat parts. Some sections of the lyrics are synthesised too to add effect. Overall this leads to a very catchy track. It feels upbeat and positive and has been well received by fans and music critics. Hopefully this will give Rogue Traders, Sony and Natalie the confidence to launch more music in the future. |
